Before You Train
Abbanti classes are gentle: guided focus, breathing, relaxation and reflection. They are safe for most people, but please read this before your first class.
This is training, not treatment
Abbanti is mental fitness training. It is not medical or psychological treatment, therapy, or a crisis service. If you have a physical or mental health condition, keep following the advice of your GP or healthcare team; Abbanti can sit alongside that, not instead of it.
Check with your GP first if you
- have epilepsy, a heart condition, or a breathing condition such as asthma or COPD
- are pregnant
- have a diagnosed mental health condition, or are currently in treatment for one
- have experienced trauma that relaxation or inward-focused practices tend to bring up
- have been told to avoid deep relaxation or breath-holding
If in doubt, ask. Most people with these conditions can still train; they may just need to adapt some practices.
While you train
- Go at your own pace. Every practice is optional. You can open your eyes, breathe normally, or stop at any time.
- Breathing practices: if you feel dizzy, light-headed or uncomfortable, return to normal breathing straight away.
- Never listen while driving, cycling or operating machinery. Some classes and recordings are deeply relaxing.
- Find a safe, comfortable spot, sitting or lying down, where you won't be disturbed.
- Cameras off is always fine.
If you need urgent help
Abbanti can't respond to emergencies. If you feel unable to keep yourself safe: in the UK, call 999, or Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time). Elsewhere, contact your local emergency number or a local crisis line.
